INMARSAT has been at the forefront of mobile satellite services for over 31 years. Today INMARSAT owns and operates three global constellations of 11 satellites flying in geosynchronous orbit 37,786 km (22,240 statute miles) above the Earth. INMARSAT provides voice and high-speed data services to almost anywhere on the planet - on land, at sea and in the air.
INMARSAT on land service is Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN). BGAN provides both simultaneous voice and data, globally. It also offers a portfolio of guaranteed, on-demand IP streaming rates, and is the service of choice for many people working in areas that have little or no terrestrial connectivity, from live broadcast media to scientists exploring for mineral deposits.

A range of terminals is available – land portable, vehicular and military systems – providing performance options to suit different operational needs. The service is accessed via Inmarsat LaunchPad, a software interface, which is standard across all terminals.
